  • How long has our agency been in operation?

    We’ve been providing services to the San Diego community since May of 2011.

  • What hours of service are available?

    We offer flexible scheduling to suit your lifestyle, including:

    • Hourly and Daily Care: Perfect for ongoing support throughout the day. Please know that we have a minimum of 4 hours per shift and 12 hours per week. This is to ensure our ability to deliver consistent care for our clients.
    • Live-In and Overnight Services: For continuous, around-the-clock care.
    • 24/7 Care: Available for clients who need assistance at any hour. We offer two 12 or three 8 hours shifts to deliver assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
    • After-Hours Support: We understand that needs can arise unexpectedly, so after-hours assistance is available.
  • How do I choose a caregiver?

    Your comfort is our priority. At San Diego Compassionate Caregivers, you are an active participant in the caregiver selection process. You can:

    Rely on our thorough matching process, ensuring the caregiver’s experience, personality, and skills align with your specific needs.

    Feel confident knowing all our caregivers are rigorously background-checked, fully trained, bonded, and insured.


  • What if I want to change caregivers?

    We understand that finding the perfect match is essential. If you ever feel a change is needed, simply let us know. We will work closely with you to make a smooth transition until you’re completely satisfied with your care.

  • How long will it take to get a caregiver?

    Your needs are our priority. Depending on your situation, we can provide a caregiver as quickly as needed—whether that’s immediately for urgent care or at a scheduled time that works best for you. In order to get the best fit for a client we prefer to have 24-48 hours of notice.

  • Why hire a caregiver through San Diego Compassionate Caregivers versus a private caregiver?

    Choosing our agency offers several advantages:

    • Administrative Support: We handle all payroll taxes, workers’ compensation, and liability concerns, giving you peace of mind.
    • Access to Family Portal: allows you to view what happened with your loved one and what assistance they received during the shift. You can also leave your notes and assign tasks that you want a caregiver to do.
    • Backup Services: If your primary caregiver is unavailable, we provide prompt backup support.
    • Vetted Professionals: Our rigorous screening, supervision, and training processes ensure that only the most qualified caregivers are assigned to you.
  • Do I have to sign a contract?

    Flexibility is key to our service. We do not require long term contracts and we always allow you the freedom to adjust services as your needs evolve. We work with you to establish an agreement that feels right.

  • What geographic areas do you serve?

    We proudly serves all of San Diego County including Carlsbad, Oceanside, Encinitas, Solana Beach, Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, La Jolla, Coronado, Point Loma, Vista, San Marcos, Escondido, Rancho Bernardo, San Diego, La Mesa, El Cajon, Poway.   • How much does our service cost?

    Pricing is $45/hour for 4-9 hours and $42 per hour for 10-12 hours of service.

    However, prices can vary based on care needs and frequency of care. Contact us for a complimentary in-home assessment to find out how much home-care services will cost for you or your loved one. Billing statements are provided via email or mail usually bi-weekly.


  • What are my payment options for home care services ?

    We accept the following forms of payment:

    • Electronic checks
    • Personal checks
    • Credit cards
    • Long-term care insurance reimbursements
    • VA reimbursements

    We are happy to assist our clients with the paperwork involved to receive reimbursement from long-term care insurance companies or the VA.


  • Is your agency licensed?

    Yes. We are licensed by the Home Care Services Branch, a division of the California Department of Social Services. Our HCO# is 374700144.

  • Are your caregivers insured and bonded?

    At San Diego Compassionate Caregivers, all our caregivers are agency-employed, fully insured, and bonded per Home Care Services Branch requirements. Our insurance includes general and professional liability coverage along with a non-owned auto policy for extra protection.

    We also uphold rigorous hiring standards. The Caregiver Provider Management Branch conducts comprehensive background checks in collaboration with the DOJ and FBI, with any non-traffic infractions undergoing further review. Additionally, we perform thorough reference checks for our home-care aids.


  • What training do caregivers have?

    We offer a customized online training program—with subsequent testing—that is approved by the Home Care Services Branch. In addition, our qualified personnel provide hands-on training for specialized skills such as transferring using Hoyer lifts, slide boards, and other procedures that are tailored to San Diego Compassionate Caregivers clients’ needs.

  • Where do we provide home-care services?

    While the majority of our clients receive care in their own homes, sometimes we provide assistance to them in the hospital, assisted living, independent living, memory care facility or rehabilitation center.

  • How do I get started?

    Starting with us is easy:

    • Schedule a Free Consultation: We’ll discuss your needs and develop a personalized care plan.
    • Customized Care Plan: Our team will work with you to tailor services that match your lifestyle and requirements. Once in place our team will contact you or your loved one at least once a month to review and update a care plan.
    • Begin Receiving Care: Once you’re comfortable with your plan and caregiver selection, we’ll begin providing the support you need.
  • What if my caregiver gets sick and cannot make it to assist me?

    In the event that your caregiver is sick or otherwise unavailable we will send another experienced caregiver to replace them, so that you always have assistance available. That includes holidays and weekends. Our staff is available to respond quickly between 7am and 8 pm and should you need something urgently after these hours, we have an answering service that will alert someone to get back to you.
